MTN-sponsored West African premiere singing competition, Project Fame West
Africa has returned with season five. Bigger, better excitement, amongst
aspiring musicians in Liberia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Ghana. The Liberia
audition was held at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville on
June 2.
According to Project Fame Country Representative Chris Wolo,
Liberia has made an impressive showing since her first appearance and a lot is
expected from the country this year. He indicated that Liberia is endowed with
a mosaic of talents, expressing optimism that with the level of support from
Lonestar MTN and the public, the ultimate prize is a sure possibility.
MTN Project Fame West Africa seeks to discover raw talented
musical hopefuls, who are groomed for success in an intense academy. Speaking
to journalists, Project Fame Country Director Chris Wolo said the contestants
receive the very best professional training on voice and movement to
performance and song writing.
More than just a talent competition, MTN Project Fame allows viewers a unique opportunity to follow day by day, the behind the scenes progress of the contestants in their quest for fame! The contestants will also be given the opportunity to meet and perform alongside their favorite stars, who will be conducting exclusive master-classes, sharing their wisdom and tips for success. The MTN Project Fame finalists are expected to live in the Project Fame Academy for a period of 10 weeks. Public voting by Text SMS determines which contestants are eliminated on a weekly basis, with the lucky winner expected to walk away with cash prize, a car and recording contract. prize, a car and recording contract.
The show’s production format consists of gala evenings held each Sunday night in prime time. There's a weekly recap show and the Eviction night on Saturday night. It features contestants from Ghana, Sierra Leone, Nigeria and Liberia and is broadcast on ABC TV in Sierra Leone, TV3 in Ghana, Claire TV in Liberia, and NTA (National Television Authority) in Nigeria.
